What Is Composite Bonding?

Composite bonding is a quick, effective way to enhance your smile with minimal intervention.

The material we use—composite resin—has long been trusted for white fillings. What’s new is how advanced and lifelike today’s composites have become, blending seamlessly with your natural teeth.

It’s an ideal option if you want to improve your smile without complex treatments. Whether it’s chipped or worn edges, small gaps, stubborn stains, or short teeth you’d like to lengthen, composite bonding provides a natural-looking solution.

Composite Bonding Cost

Composite bonding is one of the most cost-effective ways to enhance your smile.

It offers a noticeable improvement without the high price often associated with other cosmetic treatments.

At Calm Dental, composite bonding typically ranges from £220 to £250 per tooth, depending on the complexity of the case.

FAQs

What is composite bonding?

Composite bonding is a cosmetic procedure in which a dentist layers and shapes a tooth-coloured resin directly onto your teeth to improve their shape, colour or length, then cures it with a light so it blends in seamlessly with the natural enamel.

Which problems can it fix?

Your journey begins with a consultation at Calm Dental with Dr Agata Kijowska, where we assess your smile and discuss your goals. Using advanced 3D imaging technology, we create a precise digital treatment plan mapping out the step-by-step transformation of your teeth. You’ll receive a series of aligners, each to be worn for about one to two weeks, gradually shifting your teeth into alignment.

Am I suitable for composite bonding?

Most people with generally healthy teeth and gums are candidates. Your dentist will confirm suitability at an examination and may suggest alternatives if a different treatment would achieve a better outcome.

Does it hurt or involve drilling?

No. Because the material is normally added to the tooth rather than removed, the procedure is usually painless, needs no injections and involves little to no drilling.

How long does the appointment take?

Most bonding cases are completed in a single visit, so you can walk out with an upgraded smile the same day.

What does it cost?

Fees vary with the number of teeth treated and the complexity, but a typical range is £220–£250 per tooth.

How long will my bonding last?

With good oral hygiene and regular dental check-ups, composite bonding should look good for several years, though it isn’t quite as long-lived as porcelain restorations.

How do I look after bonded teeth?

Brush twice daily, floss, attend routine check-ups and be mindful of habits that chip or stain—e.g., biting nails, crunching ice, and frequent coffee, tea or red-wine consumption. Rinse with water after dark drinks and your dentist can polish the resin at reviews if needed.

Are there any risks or downsides?

Minor post-treatment sensitivity and occasional chipping are possible. Compared with veneers, the material is softer and can pick up stains over time, so maintenance is important.

How does it compare with porcelain veneers?

Veneers (especially porcelain) last longer and resist staining better, but they cost more and require more tooth preparation. Bonding is cheaper, quicker and easily repairable, making it a conservative option.

Can it be combined with other smile treatments?

Yes. Bonding often follows orthodontics (e.g., Invisalign) or teeth-whitening to fine-tune the final aesthetics.

Is the procedure reversible?

Generally, yes. Because the underlying enamel is left largely intact, the resin can be removed and you can return to your natural teeth if you ever change your mind.

Why does composite bonding cost what it does?

The fee reflects the high-quality nanocomposite materials used and the dentist’s skill in sculpting a lifelike result—essentially a blend of art and science performed chairside.
