Dentures are removable dental appliances used to replace missing teeth and surrounding tissues.

They are crafted to closely resemble natural gum tissue and teeth, providing a functional and aesthetic solution for tooth loss.

Dentures come in two main types: complete (full) dentures, which replace all teeth in an arch, and partial dentures, used when some natural teeth remain.

For complete dentures, a flesh-colored acrylic base fits over the gums, with the base of the upper denture covering the palate (roof of the mouth) and the lower denture shaped like a horseshoe to accommodate the tongue.

Partial dentures usually have a metal framework and clasps that connect to the natural teeth, along with the prosthetic teeth that fill the gaps.

The creation of dentures involves several appointments to precisely measure and create molds of the jaw and existing teeth to ensure a proper fit and natural appearance.

Restored Functionality: Enables normal functioning in terms of speaking and eating.

Aesthetic Improvement: Provides a natural-looking solution for missing teeth, enhancing the smile and facial appearance.

Customizable: Tailored to fit the individual’s mouth for comfort and a natural look.

Supports Facial Structure: Helps maintain the shape of the face, preventing the sagging of facial muscles.

Cost-Effective: Generally more affordable than dental implants or fixed bridges.

Non-Invasive: No surgery is required for fitting most types of dentures.

Adaptability: Especially with partial dentures, they can be adapted if additional teeth are lost, and existing natural teeth change position.

Crowns and bridges are fixed prosthetic devices cemented onto existing teeth or implants.

Crowns are used to cover or “cap” a damaged tooth or an implant, enhancing its strength, size, shape, and appearance.

Bridges, on the other hand, are used to fill the gap created by one or more missing teeth by anchoring onto neighboring teeth or implants.

Crowns: The process involves reducing the size of the existing tooth to make room for the crown and then taking an impression to create a precisely fitting cap. The crown can be made from various materials, including porcelain, ceramics, metal alloys, or a combination of materials. The final crown is then cemented over the prepared tooth.

Bridges: For a bridge, the teeth adjacent to the missing tooth (or teeth) are prepared as crowns to serve as anchors (abutments) for the bridge. A false tooth (or teeth), known as pontics, is then created and attached to these abutment crowns. The entire structure is cemented into place, effectively bridging the gap.

Restoration of Functionality and Aesthetics: Both crowns and bridges restore the appearance and function of teeth.

Durability: They are durable and can last many years with proper care and maintenance.

Protection for Damaged Teeth: Crowns provide a protective cover for weak, decayed, or broken teeth.

Prevents Misalignment: Bridges help prevent the shifting of teeth that can occur due to missing teeth.

Custom-Made: Tailored to match the natural color and shape of your teeth, ensuring a natural-looking smile.

Improved Chewing and Speaking: Restores the ability to chew and speak properly, which can be impaired by missing or damaged teeth.

Non-Removable Convenience: Unlike dentures, crowns and bridges are cemented onto teeth or implants and are not removable, offering a convenient and permanent solution.
